Chardonnay

A Chardonnay from Marlborough that shows more depth than the region might suggest – aged in wooden barrels, with clear structure and real aging potential.

Nautilus Estate is one of the established names in Marlborough, New Zealand's most famous wine region in the north of the South Island. While the region is primarily known for Sauvignon Blanc, Nautilus has shown for years that Chardonnay can be just as at home here – provided one works with care in the cellar.

The 2023 opens with ripe nectarines, brioche, and beeswax, plus toasted almonds and a subtle flint minerality in the background. On the palate, peach and honeydew melon are added, accompanied by elderflower and a nutty complexity that suggests barrel aging. The acidity is clear and well-integrated, the body dense without appearing heavy – the finish long and focused. With increasing aging, the wine gains creamy mouthfeel.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Now until 2028.
Pairs well with grilled lobster, chicken breast fillet in cream sauce, scallops, or a mature Brie de Meaux.
