Casa Ermelinda Vinha da Fonte Touriga Nacional

Touriga Nacional in its purest form: Portugal's most important red wine variety, here as a single-vineyard wine from Casa Ermelinda Freitas in the Península de Setúbal south of Lisbon.

The family-run Casa Ermelinda Freitas winery is one of the region's most established producers – consistently focusing on Portuguese grape varieties, with Touriga Nacional as its flagship. The Vinha da Fonte vineyard yields concentrated grapes with pronounced varietal character.

In the glass, a deep ruby ​​red with violet reflections. The nose offers blackberry, black plum, and violet – the classic Touriga profile – complemented by cedar, vanilla, and a hint of sweet spices from oak aging. On the palate, it is dense and juicy, with firm yet ripe tannins and a supportive acidity. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with lingering dark fruit.

Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with braised lamb rump, Iberico pork roast, or mature Manchego cheese. If desired, open the bottle an hour beforehand or decant briefly – the wine opens up noticeably with aeration. Drinking window until 2028.
