Casa Ermelinda Freitas –
Atlantic elegance from Setúbal

Casa Ermelinda Freitas cultivates 550 hectares of vineyards on the Setúbal Peninsula , south of Lisbon, where the Atlantic Ocean moderates the summers and river breezes from the Sado River provide natural cooling. This interplay of sea air, sandy loam soil, and continental warmth gives the wines their characteristic balance: ripe fruit, lively acidity, and a long finish.

The winery has borne the family name for generations – today, Leonor Freitas manages the estate with a clear focus on origin and craftsmanship. More than 900 national and international awards attest to the fact that this approach resonates far beyond the region. They work with indigenous grape varieties such as Castelão and Moscatel de Setúbal, complemented by international varieties that develop a distinctive character in the Atlantic climate.

Casa Ermelinda Freitas wines are perfect for everyday enjoyment as well as special occasions: a crisp white wine with grilled Atlantic fish, a mature red wine with lamb or Presunto. Portuguese wine with its roots in the land – and the character of a landscape that you can truly taste in the glass.
