Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 0.75L

The Capitel Monte Olmi is the Amarone of the Tedeschi family — named after a single vineyard above San Pietro in Cariano that has been supplying the house's best grapes for decades. Not a cuvée from different sites, but a single-vineyard character that speaks its own language in the Valpolicella Classico.

Tedeschi has been farming vineyards in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico since the 17th century. The family is one of the wineries that does not see Amarone as a mass product, but as the expression of a specific parcel and a specific vintage. The Monte Olmi is their Riserva — which means: longer maturation time, stricter selection, higher expectations for the raw material.

Corvina forms the backbone, supplemented by the typical companion grape varieties of the Valpolicella. The dried grapes bring aromas of dried plum, dark cherry, and chocolate, plus hints of tobacco, dried herbs, and a touch of cedar wood. The body is dense, the tannins ripe and velvety, the finish long and warm.

Best served at 16–18 °C, ideally with one to two hours of decanting time. Pairs with braised beef cheek, game ragù on wide noodles, or mature Pecorino. Also as a standalone evening wine after the meal — with dark chocolate or dried fruits.
