"By the Glass" Riesling Magnum
A Riesling that embodies everything that makes the Moselle region so special – and seems even more relaxed in the magnum bottle. Villa Huesgen's "By the Glass" is the uncomplicated introduction to the Huesgen range: approachable, fresh, with genuine terroir in every glass.
The Villa Huesgen winery is one of the most traditional estates on the Middle Moselle. The family has been rooted in Traben-Trarbach for generations and relies on slate-dominated vineyards – this is also reflected in the simplest wines in their range.
In the glass, the Riesling shines a bright yellow with green reflections. The nose reveals ripe apricot and lemon zest, along with star fruit and a hint of white blossom – and beneath it all, that typical, almost smoky slate minerality that distinguishes Mosel Riesling from Riesling from other regions. On the palate, crisp acidity, delicate fruit, and clear minerality. Not a heavy wine – but one with length and drive, which still feels fresh even after the third glass.
- Food: Flammkuchen, grilled pike-perch, Asian summer rolls, mild goat cheese
- Temperature: 8–10 °C
- Occasion: Table wine for larger gatherings, summer evening on the terrace
Villa Huesgen embodies something that can still be truly felt on the Moselle: deep roots and a genuine passion for great Riesling. The Huesgen family has been making wine since 1735 – today in its eighth generation, led by Adolph Huesgen VIII.
At the heart of it all is the magnificent villa dating back to 1904, an Art Nouveau gem located right at the center of the vineyard. Here, history and the present merge into a philosophy that sees tradition not as a burden, but as a driving force. The wines are refined, modern, and unmistakably Moselle – made by happy people , as they say on the estate.
