Blaufränkisch Leithakalk QW Burgenland 0.75L
Blaufränkisch from Leithakalk — this is one of the most precise addresses that Burgenland has to offer for this grape variety. The limestone soil of the Leitha Mountains slopes gives the wine a mineral tautness that clearly distinguishes it from softer Blaufränkisch interpretations from the Central Burgenland.
The Kollwentz-Römerhof winery in Großhöflein has been one of the most reliable addresses in Burgenland for decades. Anton Kollwentz oriented the business toward quality early on; today, Andi Kollwentz continues to run the winery with the same standard: little intervention, clear origin in the glass.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red. On the nose, sour cherry, blueberry, and a hint of dark pepper spice — typical for Blaufränkisch from limestone rock. On the palate, it has a medium to powerful body, lively acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a long, slightly mineral finish.
Pairs well with game goulash, braised lamb shank, or strong hard cheese. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
