BLANDY'S 10 Years Old VERDELHO - Medium-dry

Madeira Verdelho is one of the island's four classic noble grape varieties — and the 10-year-old Blandy's shows why this style has endured for centuries: semi-dry character, lively acidity, a finish with a salty bite.

Blandy's is the oldest Madeira house on the island, family-owned since 1811 and still a defining influence on the archipelago's style. The Verdelho grape yields a wine that lies between the sweeter Bual and Malmsey styles and the bone-dry Sercial—complex yet approachable. Ten years of aging in the Solera system give the wine its characteristic depth.

On the nose, candied grapefruit, roasted nuts, and a delicate herbal spice. On the palate, a vibrant acidity balances the subtle sweetness, accompanied by dried apple and honey. The finish is long, fresh, and with a slightly salty aftertaste—typical of the island's volcanic origins.

Best served slightly chilled (12–14 °C) : as an aperitif, with consommé, pâtés, or strong hard cheeses. Once opened, the bottle will keep for several weeks thanks to the oxidative aging process.
