Benmarco Malbec

A Malbec that showcases what Mendoza is capable of: dark fruit, floral depth, and a lingering finish. Behind it lies one of the most remarkable careers in Argentine winemaking.

In 1981, Susana Balbo became the first woman in Argentina to earn the title of oenologist—a qualification that was anything but common at the time. After more than two decades as a consultant for wineries worldwide, she founded her own winery in 1999 in the heart of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Today, her children, José and Ana, run the family business together with her. The Benmarco Malbec is the flagship of this story: a wine from the heart of Mendoza, where the altitude and climate give the Malbec its characteristic structure.

In the glass, it displays fresh black fruits—blackberry, black cherry—and a distinct violet note that makes this Malbec from Mendoza so unmistakable. The acidity is balanced, the tannins firm but not harsh. The finish is long and aromatic.

Pairs well with beef fillet, leg of lamb, or a strong hard cheese. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Drinking window: now until 2028.
