Benmarco Malbec

A Malbec that shows what Mendoza can do: dark fruit, floral depth, and a finish that lingers. Behind it is one of the most remarkable careers in Argentine viticulture.

In 1981, Susana Balbo was the first woman in Argentina to earn the title of oenologist — a degree that was anything but a matter of course at the time. After more than two decades as a consultant for wineries worldwide, she founded her own winery in 1999 in the heart of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Today, her children José and Ana run the family business together with her. The Benmarco Malbec is the flagship of this story: a wine from the core zone of Mendoza, where the altitude and climate give the Malbec its characteristic structure.

In the glass, it shows fresh black fruits — blackberry, black cherry — and a distinct violet note that makes Malbec from Mendoza so unmistakable. The acidity is balanced, the tannins firm but not edgy. The finish is long and aromatic.

Pairs with beef fillet, leg of lamb, or a strong hard cheese. Drinking temperature: 16–18 °C.
