Becker Spätburgunder dry

Spätburgunder from the southern pillar of the Palatinate – tightly structured, yet surprisingly fine: This is Friedrich Becker's entry into one of Germany's strongest Pinot Noir addresses.

Friedrich Becker cultivates sites directly on the border with Alsace, around Schweigen-Rechtenbach. The soils alternate between limestone and shell limestone – typical for this southernmost tip of the Palatinate, which is climatically and geologically closer to Burgundy than to the Rhine plain. The dry Spätburgunder is Becker's most accessible red wine, but already shows the house style: precision instead of fullness.

In the glass, ripe sour cherry, a hint of herbal spice, and a subtle mineral vein that keeps the wine lively. Medium body, fine-grained tannins, juicy flow. The finish returns to the cherry fruit – clear, direct, lingering. No loud tones, but plenty of substance.
