Barolo 'Via Nuova' DOCG - Organic
Chiara Boschis is one of the defining figures of the modern Barolo. As one of the first women in the circle of the so-called Barolo Boys — alongside names like Altare, Sandrone and Scavino — she helped shape the style of the denomination. Her winery E. Pira & Figli in Castiglione Falletto covers 2.5 hectares, including shares in the legendary Cannubi vineyard. Around 10,000 bottles are produced here annually, much of it by hand — from pruning to moving the barriques in the underground barrel cellar.
The Via Nuova shows what Boschis is known for: a Barolo with elegance instead of power. Nebbiolo from Piedmont, organically certified, dry finish. In the nose, sloe, thyme and rosemary, plus fine notes of sandalwood and toasted almond. On the palate, the tannins are firm but not bulky — the acidity maintains the balance, the finish is long and spicy.
Pairs well with braised beef, game ragù or truffle risotto. Drinking temperature: 17–18 °C, large glass, preferably opened an hour before pouring.
