Barolo "Campé" DOCG

The Barolo Campé from La Spinetta is Nebbiolo in its most powerful form: dark, dense, with a depth that only reveals itself gradually. Giorgio Rivetti did not make this wine for quick drinkers.

Rivetti comes from the Asti region and became known as one of the driving forces of the so-called Barolo Boys — that generation of Piedmontese winemakers who put Piedmont on the international map in the 1990s. In addition to his legendary Barbaresco vineyards Gallina, Starderi, and Valeirano, he bought vineyards near Grinzane Cavour and built his own winery there: Campé della Spinetta. For the Barolo, he chose the lion from Dürer's animal studies as the label — an image that embodies both strength and elegance, and that describes the wine quite accurately.

In the glass, the Campé shows dark berry fruit, leather, bittersweet chocolate, and a spicy, almost tarry depth — the classic Nebbiolo profile, but here with unusual concentration. The tannins are present and firm, the finish long and multi-layered.

Pairs with braised beef, game ragù, or aged Pecorino. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C, preferably decant an hour before pouring.
