Argiolas Korem Isola dei Nuraghi

The Korem from Argiolas is a powerful Sardinian wine with a velvety texture — dark fruity, spicy and with enough substance for cellaring.

Argiolas is Sardinia's most important winery, founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas in Serdiana, southeast of Cagliari. The family cultivates around 230 hectares, primarily with indigenous grape varieties such as Cannonau, Carignano, and Bovale. Korem—named after a Nuragic cult site—is the estate's flagship cuvée and showcases the potential of Sardinia's ancient rock soils and arid climate.

In the glass, a deep ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, blackberry, cherry jam, and licorice, underpinned by rosemary and a hint of balsam. After 12 months of aging in barriques, cedarwood and dark chocolate emerge without overpowering the fruit. Powerful on the palate, the tannins are dense yet supple—no harsh finish, but a long, spicy aftertaste.

Argiolas

Argiolas – the cradle of the Sardinian wine renaissance. Founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas in Serdiana, the 230-hectare estate is now run by the third generation, his grandchildren. Antonio was ahead of his time: larger vineyard areas, a focus on quality. With legendary oenologist Giacomo Tachis as a consultant, his sons invested in modernization. Only indigenous grape varieties are cultivated – many almost forgotten. Vermentino, Cannonau, Monica, Carignano – the Mediterranean climate provides them with ideal growing conditions. The highlight: Turriga, regularly awarded three glasses in the Gambero Rosso guide. Sardinian, elegant, international. Over two million bottles produced annually – Sardinian wine culture for the world.
