Anthony Rupert Syrah
A Syrah from the Franschhoek Valley that carries the cool mountain air of the South African Cape region: spicy, dark-fruited, with real bite.
The Anthonij Rupert winery is located in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, one of South Africa's most renowned wine regions. The estate was founded in honor of Anthonij Rupert, who was known as a passionate wine connoisseur and conservationist. The vineyards benefit from cool nights at the foot of the Groot Drakenstein Mountains — a climate that gives the grapes time to develop aromatic depth without losing freshness.
In the glass, the Syrah shows deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose opens with dark cherries, blackberry, and blueberry, with notes of black pepper, olives, and a hint of smoked meat underneath — typical for a Syrah of cool origin. On the palate, it has a medium to full body, firm yet well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy-mineral finish.

The Rupert family acquired this historic estate in the 17th century and continued the wine tradition with passion. In 2005, the entire property passed to Johan Rupert, who named the estate after his late brother Anthonij Rupert. Today, Anthonij Rupert is considered one of the most innovative wineries after an extensive renovation.
