Anselmi Chapter Croce Veneto Bianco

The Capitel Croce is Roberto Anselmi's answer to the question of what can become more than Soave from Garganega: a structured, aromatically complex white wine that is unparalleled in the Veneto.

Roberto Anselmi consciously broke with the Soave DOC in the 1980s to work without compromise — hand-picking, yield reduction, aging in barriques. The Capitel Croce, named after the "Capitel Croce" vineyard near Monteforte d'Alpone, is his most famous wine and shows what Garganega is capable of with care in the cellar.

In the glass: light golden yellow with green reflections. On the nose, grapefruit, ripe apple, and elderflower, plus a delicate hint of white peach and acacia blossom. The aging in small oak barrels adds a creamy texture underneath without masking the fruit. The finish is medium-long, fresh-mineral with a slightly salty note.

Anselmi

Roberto Anselmi – a winemaker with conviction. In 2000, he left the Soave consortium because he disapproved of mass production and low prices. Since then, his wines no longer carry the Soave designation – but they have all the more character. On 70 hectares in the hills of Monteforte d'Alpone, on volcanic and calcareous soils, the Garganega grape reigns supreme. With reduced yields, hand-harvesting, and the courage to forge his own path, Anselmi demonstrated what true quality this region is capable of. Today, his children, Tommaso and Lisa, carry on the legacy – sustainably, with fungus-resistant varieties. The result: white wines with elegance, minerality, and history.
