Ansari Amarone delle Valpolicella DOCG Veneto 0.75L

An Amarone that showcases the potential of the Valpolicella hills: fully ripe grapes, the traditional appassimento method, and a dense extract. Tedeschi's Ansari is not an easy wine to approach – it demands time in the glass and a cool evening.

The Tedeschi winery is among the most renowned producers in Valpolicella, cultivating vineyards in Mezzane and Tregago, two municipalities east of the classic core region with calcareous clay soils. The Ansari is a blend of wines aged in three different barrels, each from a different parcel – an approach that prioritizes complexity over uniformity. The base is Corvina, complemented by the region's typical grape varieties, Rondinella and Molinara.

On the nose, dried cherry, black plum, cocoa, and a hint of tobacco – typical Amarone aromas resulting from the drying of the grapes. On the palate, full-bodied with velvety yet present tannins, a warm finish with a slight bitterness that binds the wine together. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C.

Drinkable now, but with potential until 2030+. Pairs well with braised beef, venison ragu on pappardelle, or mature pecorino cheese. Also a good choice neat as a digestif after a long meal.
