Alpha Estate Axia Red
This wine was the second house wine at the Michelin-starred De Librije restaurant in Zwolle for over five years and offers a wide range of gastronomic possibilities. Originating from one of Greece's most important wine regions, the wine is made from two grape varieties: Syrah (50%) and Xinomavro (50%). All grapes are harvested by hand at an altitude of 720 meters in a region with significant temperature variations between day and night, which greatly benefits the ripening and development of the aromas. The Xinomavro grape is a clone of Nebbiolo and also related to Pinot Noir. This is not surprising, as the Florina region lies at the same latitude as Burgundy and Piedmont.

Alpha Estate – your gateway to a new world of Greek wine. In the cool highlands of Amyndeon, near the Macedonian border, wines are created that surprise. Founders Angelos Iatridis and Makis Mavridis prove that Greece has much more to offer than Retsina. At an altitude of over 650 meters, international varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir thrive alongside indigenous Greek grape varieties. A continental climate with cool nights creates a balance between power and elegance. What makes Alpha Estate so special? Precision, sustainability, and hand-harvesting. Every wine reflects the terroir – and tells the story of a country in transition. Greek wines today: exciting, distinctive, and bold.
