Alpha Estate Axia Red

This wine was the second house wine at the Michelin-starred restaurant De Librije in Zwolle for over five years and offers many gastronomic possibilities.

Coming from one of the most important wine regions in Greece, the wine consists of two grape varieties: Syrah (50%) and Xinomavro (50%). All grapes are harvested by hand at an altitude of 720 meters in a region with significant temperature differences between day and night, which greatly benefits the ripening and development of the aromas. The Xinomavro grape is a clone of Nebbiolo and is also related to Pinot Noir. This is not surprising, as the Florina region lies on the same latitude as Burgundy and Piedmont.

Alpha Estate

Alpha Estate – your gateway to a new Greek wine world. In the cool altitudes of Amyndeon, near the Macedonian border, wines are created that surprise. Founders Angelos Iatridis and Makis Mavridis prove: Greece can do much more than Retsina.

At an altitude of over 650 meters, international varieties like Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grow alongside indigenous Greek grape varieties. A continental climate with cool nights provides a balance between power and elegance.

What makes Alpha Estate special? Precision, sustainability, hand-picking. Every wine reflects the terroir – and tells the story of a country in transition. Greek wines today: exciting, independent, bold.
