Alexandre Leopold Cognac XO
A Cognac from Petite Champagne — one of the two core regions of the Cognac growing area, known for its chalky soils and particularly fine, long-lasting brandies. This XO from Alexandre Léopold matures for 30 years in oak barrels before bottling — three times the legal minimum requirement for the XO classification.
No added sugar or caramel coloring: what's in the glass comes exclusively from the barrel and time. On the nose, dried fruit, leather, and a hint of rancio—the characteristic nutty, oxidative aroma of long cognac aging. On the palate, dried plum, dark chocolate, cinnamon, and a velvety, lingering finish.
Neat at room temperature in a tulip glass — no ice, no mixer. Pairs well with dark Valrhona chocolate, a mature Stilton, or as a digestif after a long dinner.
