Tokaj
Tokaj is considered one of the most traditional wine regions in the world and, as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a symbol of Hungarian wine culture. Its centerpiece is the Tokaji Aszú, a Luscious wine of extraordinary complexity that was once celebrated at European royal courts. But Tokaj also shows a modern side: dry Furmint wines delight international top-tier gastronomy with lively acidity and distinct minerality.
The region combines centuries-old craftsmanship with a contemporary winemaking spirit – a contrast that makes Tokaj so fascinating. At Vinoscout, you will find a small, hand-picked selection from this legendary region, from accessible entry-level wines to extraordinary rarities – ideal for explorers and passionate collectors alike.

Tokaj – the liquid gold of Hungary
Tokaj is one of the oldest and most famous wine regions in the world. In the northeast of Hungary, where volcanic soils meet a special microclimate, something is created that has fascinated wine lovers for centuries: the Tokaji Aszú. For this legendary sweet wine, berries affected by noble rot are picked by hand individually – a laborious craft that pays off in the glass. Depending on the Puttonyos number, the sweetness and concentration increase: even a 3 Puttonyos shows elegant fullness, a 5 Puttonyos brings deep, honeyed complexity. At the very top sits the Eszenzia – the most concentrated expression that Tokaj has to offer, and an absolute rarity.
But Tokaj can do much more than sweet. The Furmint, the most important grape variety of the region, provides dry-vinified fresh, mineral white wines with lively acidity and real depth. The Szamorodni – semi-dry or sweet – is also a typical Tokaj style that makes you curious.
