Klein Constantia –
History and Terroir of Constantia

Klein Constantia lies in the heart of the Constantia Valley south of Cape Town – one of the oldest wine regions in the New World. The estate's history dates back to the 17th century, when Jan van Riebeeck brought the first vines to the Cape. On these soils of weathered granite and sandstone, cooled by the influence of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, wines are produced that unmistakably reflect their origin.

In the vineyard, the Klein Constantia team works with expert care and minimal intervention – in the cellar, they follow simple, artisanal techniques that allow the terroir to speak for itself rather than overpowering it. The result is wines with clear minerality, fine structure, and a balance that only fully reveals itself in the glass. The legendary Vin de Constance , a naturally sweet Muscat, in particular, has brought Klein Constantia international acclaim.

As a member of the WWF Conservation Programme, the estate is committed to environmentally responsible management: biodiversity, water conservation, and the protection of the fynbos ecosystem are integral parts of the work in the vineyard. Wines from Klein Constantia are not merely Cape wines – they are an expression of a place with character and a long history.
