Frapin
Frapin – a name that has stood for the best of Grande Champagne since 1270. Seven centuries in one family, a single vineyard: the Premier Cru of Cognacs.
On over 240 hectares of their own vineyards, the raw material for cognacs grows, which are produced entirely on the estate – from harvesting and distillation to aging in the barrel. No purchases, no compromises. Only the terroir, time, and the craftsmanship of a family that has remained true to its path.
The result: Cognacs with depth, elegance and a distinctive character that tells a story in every sip.
Frapin —
seven centuries of Grande Champagne, one estate, one terroir
Frapin is not a négociant who buys in distillates and blends them – the estate in Grande Champagne has been operating completely vertically since 1270: cultivation, harvesting, distillation, and barrel aging all take place on the same land that the family has cultivated for over 25 generations. Over 240 hectares of their own vineyards in the Premier Cru des Cognacs – that is an exception in this appellation, not something to be taken for granted.
The Grande Champagne region owes its reputation to the chalky soil, which gives the Ugni Blanc grapes a fine acidity and exceptional distillability. Frapin consistently utilizes this terroir: no foreign raw materials enter the barrels, and no vintage is diluted through purchases. What matures in the cellar is solely the result of this one place—and the time that a good Cognac needs.
In the glass, Frapin's cognacs reveal a characteristic elegance: dried apricot, beeswax, and a hint of rancio in the older bottlings. Those who enjoy cognac neat—in a wide glass, without ice—will find here bottlings that justify the occasion.
