Michel Tesseron, twin brother of Château Pontet-Canet owner Alfred Tesseron, is also converting to biodynamic farming. Jerome Tesseron's sister, Melanie, now runs the Pontet-Canet estate. Both wineries originally belonged to their father, Guy Tesseron, who purchased Pontet from the renowned Cruse family of wine merchants. Tesseron heritage in the heart of Saint-Estèphe
Château Lafon-Rochet is located in the north of the Médoc, right on the border with Pauillac, in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The estate belongs to the Tesseron family, who own two classified châteaux in Bordeaux: Château Pontet-Canet is managed by Alfred Tesseron and his daughter Mélanie, while Lafon-Rochet is now under the management of Jérôme Tesseron, son of Michel. Both estates trace their origins back to their father, Guy Tesseron, who acquired Pontet-Canet from the renowned Cruse merchant family—a family history that continues to shape the Tesserons' influence in the Médoc.
A quiet transformation is currently underway at Lafon-Rochet: the estate is converting to biodynamic farming, a step that Pontet-Canet had already taken earlier and consistently. This process is being overseen by Jacques Boissenot, arguably the most sought-after wine consultant in the entire Médoc. His influence is evident in the precision of the wines: structured, with the typical tannin depth of Saint-Estèphe, but increasingly finer in texture.
Lafon-Rochet's wines are classic Médoc reds with aging potential — Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated, with dark fruit, mineral austerity, and a finish that needs time to open up. A château on the rise that doesn't deny its character.
