Château Haut-Bages Libéral lies in the heart of Pauillac – one of the great estates of the Médoc. What makes this estate so special? A limestone content in the soil, which imparts a cool minerality to the wine that is so rarely found in Pauillac.

Power and elegance combined – this is not a contradiction, but rather the promise of Haut-Bages Libéral. The wines combine the structure of classic Pauillac with a fine, almost delicate texture. Deep, complex, yet approachable.

About Château Haut Bages Libéral

Château Haut-Bages Libéral —
Pauillac with cool minerality

Château Haut-Bages Libéral is located in the middle of Pauillac, one of the most renowned appellations of the Médoc. What distinguishes the estate from its neighbors lies literally underfoot: an unusually high proportion of limestone in the soil gives the wines a cool, almost salty minerality that is rarely encountered in this appellation.

The vineyards are managed by the Lurton Estates, which have run the Château since the 1980s and consistently rely on precise hand-harvesting and gentle cellar work. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend and brings the typical Pauillac structure: dense tannins, dark fruit, long finish. But the limestone soils break up this power — the result is a wine that combines depth and accessibility without falling into heaviness.

The wines of Haut-Bages Libéral are suitable for aging, but also develop well after a few years of cellar rest. Recommendation: rack of lamb with herb crust or mature Comté.
