Château de Schengen –
Luxembourg Moselle wines with almost 100 years of history
Château de Schengen is one of the most well-known wineries on the Luxembourg Moselle. The estate is located in the village of Schengen – where Luxembourg, Germany, and France meet – and looks back on almost one hundred years of family operation. Today, it is managed jointly by Caves Bernard-Massard and the Clasen family, without losing the authentic character of the region.
A large part of the vineyards dates back to acquisitions after the Second World War, when the former castle owners gave up their plots. The label bears a drawing by Victor Hugo that he made during a visit to Schengen – a silent testimony that this place has long been more than just a border point on the map.
The wines reflect the terroir of the Luxembourg Moselle: mineral-driven, with the cool fruit that characterizes this northern wine-growing region. Whether as an introduction to Luxembourg's wine culture or as a supplement to a well-stocked cellar selection – the bottles from Schengen tell stories of place, family, and a long memory for good wine.
