Champagne Charles Heidsieck
Charles Heidsieck –
Champagne with attitude from Reims
Charles Heidsieck founded his house in Reims in 1851 – at the age of 29, with a touch of audacity and the firm intention of making champagne that defied convention. The man became a legend, and his style remained so: distinctive, precise, with a penchant for depth that many Grandes Marques of his time lacked.
Today, the Descours family runs the house, having taken it over in 2011 with the express goal of preserving its character. Charles Heidsieck's cuvées mature on the lees significantly longer than the appellation requires – the result is a complexity that can be felt in the glass: brioche, white peach, a delicate mineral note. Not a champagne for a quick sip, but for the moment, for the attention it deserves.
Whether Blanc de Blancs, Brut Réserve or the mature Prestige Cuvées – the range at Vinoscout shows what distinguishes this house from others: personality that you can taste.
