Casa Gran del Siurana
Casa Gran del Siurana lies in the heart of the Catalan DOQ Priorat – one of Spain's most exciting wine regions, where barren schist soils ( Llicorella ) and Mediterranean sun produce wines of impressive depth. Here, among old Garnacha and Cariñena vines, wines are created that reflect their rugged, mineral origins unfiltered. Powerful, honest, and distinctive.
Casa Gran del Siurana –
pure Priorat, shaped by slate
Casa Gran del Siurana lies in the heart of the DOQ Priorat , one of the few Spanish appellations with its own quality level – and a region where winemaking demands true dedication. The soils here consist of llicorella, a fragmented slate-quartzite mixture that retains very little water, forcing the vines to dig deep into the rock. What sounds barren results in wines with unusual density and a mineral character that permeates every sip.
The focus is on old Garnacha and Cariñena vines, whose low yields produce concentrated fruit: dark berries, lavender, and a hint of graphite. The wines are powerful but not heavy – the Mediterranean location provides warmth, while the altitude and slate soil retain freshness. Ideal with braised lamb, game dishes, or strong hard cheeses from the region.
