The winery is named after the town of Paniza, where it is located in the foothills of the Sierra Paniza mountain range, which rises to over 1000 meters. The eagle still makes its home there today. Even in the ancient Kingdom of Aragon, Cariñena was an important wine-growing region. Modernity and tradition coexist, and the youthful Agostón wines satisfy both modern, trendy, and traditional tastes: they are fresh, approachable, juicy, and simply delicious. These are uncomplicated, high-quality wines, rarely found in Cariñena. Virgen del Aguila used only new oak for both red wines, creating a perfect harmony with the pronounced youthful fruit aromas.

about Jabali Agoston Garnacha-Syrah DO

Bodegas Paniza –
Cariñena at over 1000 meters

Bodegas Paniza is located in the town of the same name at the foot of the Sierra Paniza in Aragón – a mountain range that rises over 1000 meters in places and provides the viticulture here with unusually cool nights and distinct temperature differences. Eagles still circle over the vineyard slopes today, and the old Kingdom of Aragón already knew Cariñena as an important growing area long before the term "terroir" was on everyone's lips.

The bodega's Agostón line stands for wines that get straight to the point: fresh fruit, juicy structure, uncomplicated drinkability – characteristics that are not a matter of course at this altitude. The Virgen del Águila red wines take a different path: exclusively new wood, which does not mask the youthful fruit aromas but gives them support and depth.

Tradition and modernity are not mutually exclusive in Paniza. The bodega works with the historical grape varieties of the region but relies on clean, precise cellar technology – the result is wines that show the character of Cariñena without falling into rustic heaviness.
