About Betz Family Winery
Betz Family Winery —
Craftsmanship and terroir from the Columbia Valley
Bob Betz was long one of the most influential minds in the American wine world before he founded his own winery in Woodinville, Washington, together with his wife Cathy in 1997. What started small has developed into one of the most precise addresses for artisanal red wines in the Pacific Northwest — with a clear focus on the Columbia Valley as the origin.
The grapes come from carefully selected sites in the Columbia Valley, where continental climate, long hours of sunshine, and cool nights ensure slow ripening and distinct aromatics. Betz works with classic Bordeaux and Rhône varieties, which he ages using traditional cellar techniques: controlled fermentation, aging in French oak, minimal intervention. The result is wines with structure and depth that make the terroir of Washington clearly recognizable.
Every cuvée of the Betz Family Winery is designed for longevity — dense fruit, firm tannin, a long finish. Anyone who drinks the wines young should decant; those who bring patience will be rewarded with additional complexity. Recommendation: with braised beef, leg of lamb, or aged hard cheese.
