Agricola Punica

Agricola Punica – one of Sardinia's most exciting stories. Founded as a joint project between Cantina di Santadi and the Tuscan winemaker Giacomo Tachis, their mission is to revive the island's ancient vines. Sardinia is no ordinary wine country. Grape varieties like Carignano and Vermentino carry millennia of history within them. At Punica, these characteristics are given free rein. No pretense, no embellishment – just fruit, sun, and barren soil. What awaits you? Deep red berries, Mediterranean herbs, a salty hint of sea air, and a warmth that feels like an evening on the island. Punica – Sardinian roots, unforgettable.

Agricola Punica –
Sardinian grape varieties, Tuscan craftsmanship

Agricola Punica was born from an unusual partnership: Cantina di Santadi in southwest Sardinia and the legendary Tuscan oenologist Giacomo Tachis founded the winery together with the aim of taking the potential of the old island vines seriously – not to modernize, but to unlock it.

Sardinia boasts grape varieties that are virtually unknown elsewhere. Carignano del Sulcis grows here on ancient, ungrafted vines in sandy coastal soil – a natural protection against phylloxera that allows the vines to live for centuries. Vermentino thrives in the heat and salty winds of the Mediterranean, developing into a variety with true character: herbaceous, mineral, with a dry finish reminiscent of maquis shrubland and sea air.

Punica's wines are not showpieces. They taste of the barren soil where the vines grow, of dark berries, Mediterranean herbs, and a warmth that cannot be artificially created. Anyone seeking Sardinian wine with depth will find one of the island's most compelling producers here.
