Wiener Trilogie QW Vienna 0.75L
The Wiener Trilogie from the Fritz Wieninger winery comes from one of the most unusual wine regions in Europe: Vienna is one of the few capitals in the world where serious viticulture is practiced within the city limits. Wieninger has been one of the defining addresses there for decades and cultivates its sites in a certified organic manner (AT-BIO-402).
In the glass, the Blauer Zweigelt shows what distinguishes it as an Austrian lead grape variety: On the nose, it opens with red berry fruits — sour cherry, raspberry — and a characteristic spice, which is accompanied by a hint of moss and wet leaves. This is not heaviness, but peculiarity: the unmistakable scent of the Viennese vineyards, which lie between the city outskirts and the Wienerwald biosphere reserve. On the palate, the wine presents itself as dry and lively, with a fresh acid structure that gives it tension. The tannins are fine and without edges — a red wine with drinkability that does not rely on extraction, but on freshness and clarity. The finish is clean and medium-long, with a slightly mineral aftertaste.
Served at 16–18 °C, the Wiener Trilogie pairs with Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad, Tafelspitz, or a hearty lentil stew with bacon. It also cuts a reliable figure with pasta with tomato sauce or a dinner without a special occasion — uncomplicated, but not arbitrary.
