Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch

Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch
A Cabernet Sauvignon that shows what Stellenbosch can do: dark fruit, clear structure, and a finish that lingers. Tokara is located at the foot of the Simonsberg, where fresh sea air and sunny days ensure that the berries ripen evenly and over many weeks.
The winery was founded in 1994 by G.F. Ferreira and is now one of the most renowned addresses in South Africa. Cabernet Sauvignon vines grow on 120 hectares of nutrient-rich soil — the house's core competence. Architecture, an art gallery, and its own restaurant make it clear that Tokara understands viticulture as part of a more comprehensive way of life.
In the glass, the wine opens with blackcurrant and cocoa, underlaid by a fresh hint of eucalyptus. On the palate, firm but ripe tannins that carry the body without dominating. The finish is long and holds the dark fruit until the end.
Pairs with braised rack of lamb, beef fillet with a herb crust, or a mature hard cheese. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Can still improve for a few years.
