Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

Three years in large barrels of Slovenian oak, no barrique — the Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino DOCG follows the classic school of Sangiovese Grosso: powerful, but without wood dominance.

The Tenuta di Sesta winery is located in the southern part of the Montalcino zone, near Castelnuovo dell'Abate — a corner known for its deep, mineral soils and intense sunlight. Giovanni Ciacci manages the estate with a focus on traditional vinification: hand-picking, long maceration in stainless steel tanks (approx. 14 days), then three years of wood storage, followed by twelve months of bottle aging before release.

In the glass, the wine shows ripe plum, elderberry, and a hint of licorice, beneath which lies the typical iron minerality of Sangiovese. The structure is dense, the tannins firm but fine-grained — the acidity holds everything together and gives the wine direction. Long, spicy finish. Awarded Mundus Vini Gold (2011 vintage).

Now until 2030+. Serve at 17–18 °C, preferably decant an hour beforehand.
Pairs with: Bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised wild boar, Pecorino Stagionato, or dark chocolate for the finish.

Tenuta Di Sesta Di Ciacci Giovanni

Since 1995, the winery has been managed by Giovanni Ciacci, who has since joined forces with his children Andrea and Francesca in the areas of business and agronomics. For the Ciacci family, traditional aging in large oak barrels and vineyard renewal, in response to climate change and for the benefit of the region, are the best strategies for producing wines that best express the character of the Montalcino area.
