Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

Three years in large Slovenian oak barrels, no barrique — the Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino DOCG follows the classic school of Sangiovese Grosso: powerful, but without oak dominance.

The Tenuta di Sesta winery is located in the southern part of the Montalcino region, near Castelnuovo dell'Abate—an area known for its deep, mineral-rich soils and intense sunshine. Giovanni Ciacci manages the estate with a focus on traditional winemaking: hand-harvesting, extended maceration in stainless steel tanks (approximately 14 days), followed by three years of aging in oak barrels and twelve months of bottle aging before release.

In the glass, the wine displays ripe plum, elderberry, and a hint of licorice, beneath which lies the typical iron minerality of Sangiovese. The structure is dense, the tannins firm yet fine-grained—the acidity holds everything together and gives the wine direction. Long, spicy finish. Awarded Mundus Vini Gold (2011 vintage).

Drinking window: now until 2030+. Serve at 17–18 °C, preferably decanted an hour beforehand.
Pairs well with: Bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised wild boar, Pecorino Stagionato or dark chocolate to finish.

Tenuta Di Sesta Di Ciacci Giovanni

Since 1995, the winery has been managed by Giovanni Ciacci, who has since joined forces with his children Andrea and Francesca in the areas of business and agronomics. For the Ciacci family, traditional aging in large oak barrels and vineyard renewal, in response to climate change and for the benefit of the region, are the best strategies for producing wines that best express the character of the Montalcino area.
