Tedeschi Amarone della Valpolicella Marne 180

An Amarone that shows why Valpolicella is one of Italy's great red wine regions: dense, velvety and with the characteristic depth of the Appassimento method.

Tedeschi has been based in Pedemonte since the 17th century and is one of the most traditional wineries in Valpolicella. The name Marne 180 refers to the local limestone soil – marne – which gives the wine its mineral character. The grapes for this Amarone are dried for several months on bamboo racks after harvesting (appassimento) before fermentation and subsequent three years of aging in Slavonian oak.

In the glass, a bouquet of ripe cherries, blackberries, and blueberries unfolds, flanked by vanilla and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is powerful yet remarkably velvety – the tannins are firm but perfectly integrated. A long, warm finish with a touch of dried plums and tobacco.

The 2019 vintage was awarded 97 points (Platinum) by Decanter, and Gold by the Wine Hunter Award.

Tedeschi Wines

Tedeschi embodies everything that makes Valpolicella so special: deep roots in the terroir, generations of craftsmanship, and wines that never deny their origin.

Nestled in the hills surrounding Verona – between 200 and 500 meters above sea level – lie the three heart vineyards of the estate: Monte Olmi, Fabriseria, and Maternigo . Each of these crus brings its own distinct character, and you can taste it in every glass. Whether it's the powerful Amarone della Valpolicella or the elegant Valpolicella Superiore – nothing here is left to chance.

What distinguishes Tedeschi: Knowledge and beauty go hand in hand. Scientific precision meets genuine passion for the place.
