Tarón Reserva DOCa Rioja 0.75L
The Tarón Reserva from Rioja Alta is a classic Rioja with the weight and depth one would expect from a mature Reserva – structured, spicy, with a long finish.
Bodegas Tarón works in the Rioja Alta, the cooler, higher-altitude part of the appellation, where the calcareous clay soils and continental climate contribute natural acidity and aging potential. The Reserva adheres to the strict DOCa regulations: a minimum of three years of aging, including one year in barrel and one year in bottle. Here, Mazuelo is used – a grape variety known in Rioja as a blending partner, but which, as the main grape, brings its own depth and tannin structure.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color. The nose opens with aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and dried plum, along with dates and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, firm yet ripe tannins are supported by lively acidity – typical of Rioja Alta. The finish is long and slightly spicy with a touch of tobacco and leather.
Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with leg of lamb with herbs, Ibérico chorizo, or a robust Manchego cheese. Drink by 2030.
