Tamnavulin German Pinot Noir Casks

A Speyside malt that bridges the gap between Scottish distilling expertise and German winemaking. For this edition, Tamnavulin uses casks that previously held Pinot Noir from Germany — a combination that gives the whisky an unusually smooth, fruit-forward character.

The Tamnavulin Distillery is located in the heart of the Livet Gorge in the Speyside district. Known for its smooth, approachable single malts, the distillery has for years relied on unconventional cask finishes to combine classic Speyside freshness with new aromatic dimensions.

The wine is aged in American oak barrels, hence the base of vanilla and light fruit. The finish in Pinot Noir barrels adds another layer: peach, orange zest, and cherry on the nose, along with a hint of syrup. On the palate, ginger, figs, and a subtle apple pie note follow. The finish is short to medium-long, warm, and fruity.

Enjoy neat at room temperature — or with a large ice cube to bring out the fruity notes. Also pairs well with a piece of dark chocolate or walnut cake.

Tamnavulin Distillery

Tamnavulin lies in the heart of Scotland's Speyside – a valley world-renowned for its smooth, fruity whiskies. The distillery was founded in 1966 on the banks of the River Livet, and it is precisely this crystal-clear water that continues to shape the characteristically mild style of its bottlings.

What makes Tamnavulin special are its Wine Cask Editions . Here, the whisky initially matures in American oak casks and is then finished in red wine, white wine, or sherry casks. The result is an approachable, aromatically complex single malt – perfect for anyone wanting to rediscover whisky.
