Stemmari Nero d'Avola Sicilia

Stemmari Nero d'Avola Sicilia
A classic Nero d'Avola from Sicily — fully ripe, dark-fruited, and with a velvety mouthfeel that goes well with Mediterranean cuisine.
Stemmari is a winery in the south of Sicily that is managed by the Mezzacorona winery. The Nero d'Avola vines grow in the Sicilia DOC cultivation zone, where dry summers and calcareous soils drive the grapes to full ripeness. After hand-picking, a malolactic fermentation with selected bacterial cultures follows, then the wine matures for six months in French oak barrels.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose brings blackberry, pomegranate, and wild strawberry, underlaid by a hint of vanilla from the wood aging. On the palate, it is soft and round, with integrated acidity and mild tannins — not an edgy wine, but an accessible everyday companion.

The winery and vineyards are located in southwestern Sicily, near Sambuca di Sicilia in the province of Agrigento. To be precise, the winery is owned by Mezzacorona, one of Italy's leading wine companies. When Feudo Arancio was acquired in 2001, the vineyards were found to be severely neglected. However, soil analysis revealed that this was exactly the land they had been searching for. A major project began. The old winery was completely demolished, and all the vineyards were replanted. No expense was spared in creating a completely new, state-of-the-art winery, complete with an irrigation system for all the vineyards.
