Solarco Collio Bianco DOC Friuli-Venezia Giulia 0.75L
The Solarco from Livon is a white wine cuvée from Collio, one of Italy's most renowned white wine regions on the border with Slovenia. The grapes grow in Ruttars, a hamlet in the municipality of Dolegna del Collio, on flysch soils — an alternating layer of sandstone and marl that gives the region's wines their characteristic minerality and freshness.
Livon is a family winery with long-standing roots in Friuli and manages vineyards in Collio as well as in the neighboring Colli Orientali. The Solarco is based on Friulano, the lead grape variety of Friuli, which is hand-picked and carefully selected here. In the glass, it shows the typical aromatics of the variety: almond, white peach, and a hint of bitter almond in the finish. The acidity structure is lively, the body full-bodied without heaviness.
It is best drunk at 10–12 °C — as an accompaniment to seafood risotto, fried sea bream, or a Frico, the classic Friulian cheese dish. It also makes a good companion as an aperitivo with Prosciutto di San Daniele.
