Roda I Blanco DOCa Rioja

Roda I Blanco shows how independent white wine from Rioja can be: dense, taut and with plenty of pull on the palate. It comes from Bodegas Roda, a winery known for its precise Rioja wines. The grape variety is Garnacha Blanca, and the wine is vinified dry.

Straw yellow in the glass with shiny reflections. On the nose, quince, peach and grapefruit combine with chalky-mineral hints. The long aging in French oak is so finely integrated that it supports the fruit instead of masking it. On the palate, the wine feels full yet taut, with ripe fruit and a gentle texture. The finish is dry and long, with a delicate, tart citrus note. With a little air, herbal spice and a salty impression are added, which underscores the length.

Recommendation: Decant it briefly or give it a few minutes in the glass. Serve it at 10–12 °C. It goes with fried monkfish, sweetbreads, poultry in cream sauce or aged Manchego.

The Bodega

Bodegas Roda

Bodegas RODA is no ordinary winery. In the late 1980s, the Rotllant Daurella family came to Rioja with the clear intention of creating something lasting. The result is one of the most exciting wineries in Spain.

High above Haro's railway station district, wines are produced that bring out the best in old Tempranillo vines: SELA as an approachable entry point, RODA for deep red fruit, RODA I for dark power and freshness – and CIRSION for truly great moments. A winery that knows its roots and yet always looks to the future.
