Réserve de la Comtesse second wine Pichon-Lalande-Comtesse 0.75L

The Réserve de la Comtesse is the second wine of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande — one of the most renowned Second Growths of the Médoc. What ends up in the glass here carries the style of the great estate without demanding the price of the Grand Vin.

Pichon-Lalande is located in the heart of Pauillac, directly adjacent to the vineyards of Latour and Léoville-Las Cases. The Château has existed for centuries and stands for the classic Médoc style: structured, age-worthy, with depth. The Réserve de la Comtesse is created from batches that do not go into the main wine — a selection principle that has ensured accessible yet characterful wines in Bordeaux for decades.

In the glass, it reveals a red wine with dark cherry, cassis, and a hint of graphite in the background. Cabernet Franc brings a herbaceous, slightly floral vein into play — violets, some tobacco, and a subtle spice on the finish. The body is medium to full, the tannins present but not coarse.

Best served at 16–18 °C, it pairs well with rack of lamb with a herb crust, entrecôte, or aged Cantal. It also makes a fine companion to game dishes in autumn.
