Quintessenz Kalterersee Classico Superiore Alto Adige DOC 0.75L

The Kalterersee Classico Superiore from Kellerei Kaltern is the flagship of one of South Tyrol's largest cooperatives — and at the same time proof that Vernatsch can do much more than just be a light everyday wine. The designation "Superiore" stands for stricter yield limits and a minimum alcohol content that requires somewhat more ripeness and concentration.

Kellerei Kaltern manages vineyards around Lake Kaltern, where the mild climate and lime-rich soils give the Vernatsch its typical light-footedness. The cooperative unites over 600 winegrower families and is considered the benchmark in the region for high-quality varietal Vernatsch.

A clear ruby red appears in the glass. The nose opens with sour cherry, raspberry, and a hint of dried violets. On the palate, the wine remains lean, with soft, barely noticeable tannins and a fresh acidity that keeps the finish lively. Not a heavy red wine — but one that convinces with drinkability.

Best served slightly chilled (14–16 °C): This is how the fruit and freshness come into their own most clearly. Pairs with South Tyrolean mixed meat platter, Graukäse, pasta with tomato sauce, or an uncomplicated dinner on the terrace.
