Promontory Napa Valley 0.75L
Promontory Napa Valley 0.75L
Graphite, wet stone, fresh spices — and underneath a dark fruit layer of cassis and blackberry: The Promontory from the Napa Valley shows what Cabernet Franc can achieve on great terrain. The color is deep red with a shiny rim, the nose complex and cool at the same time.
Promontory lies in the Mayacamas Mountains west of Oakville, at over 600 meters altitude. The sites there differ significantly from the valley floor of the Napa Valley: cooler temperatures, volcanic and rocky soils, longer growing season. The winery belongs to the Harlan family and was specifically developed for Cabernet Franc — a grape variety that lets its origin from the cool Bordelais be felt here.
In the mouth, the wine shows a taut structure with fine, well-integrated tannins. The acidity is present without stinging, the finish long and mineral with a hint of dark spices. Not an opulent Napa style — but precision and tension.
Best served at 16–17 °C. Pairs with rack of lamb with herb crust, entrecôte, or mature cheddar. If you have time, you should open the bottle two hours before drinking or decant it.
