Pinot Noir “Estate Grown” Carneros

A Pinot Noir that bridges the gap between Rheingau and California: Walter Schug brought German craftsmanship and Mosel precision to the Carneros region, known for cool Pacific influences and clay-rich soils that give Pinot Noir a special structure.

The family winery in Sonoma County was founded in 1980, after Walter Schug, together with Joseph Phelps, created the legendary Insignia wine. Today, his children Claudia, Andrea, and Axel continue to run the winery—head winemaker Johannes Scheid, trained in the Mosel region, consistently carries on Schug's philosophy: Burgundian meticulousness, Californian fruit.

In the glass, this estate-grown Pinot Noir displays the typical Carneros aromas: sour cherry and pomegranate, underpinned by violets and a hint of earth. The body is medium-bodied, the tannins fine and well-integrated, and the finish cool and long.

Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with duck breast with cherry sauce, grilled salmon, or a mature cheddar. Also a good choice to accompany game dishes in autumn.
