Piemme Petit Manseng Toscana Bianco IGT Tuscany 0.75L
Petit Manseng in Tuscany — that sounds unusual, and it is. Fattoria Le Pupille from the Maremma has designed the Piemme as a conscious research project: an attempt to show what this southwestern French grape variety can achieve in the Tuscan coastal climate.
Fattoria Le Pupille is one of the defining names of the Maremma. The winery helped shape the region long before it was taken seriously as a wine-growing area. The Piemme is not a byproduct, but a targeted question to the grape variety: Petit Manseng naturally brings high acidity and dense aromatics — properties that are otherwise difficult to preserve in the heat of the Tuscan coast.
In the glass, the result of this consideration appears: ripe yellow pear, dried apricot, and a hint of white peach, plus a lively acidity structure that gives the wine tension. The finish is long, slightly salty, with a mineral note reminiscent of the proximity to the sea.
Drink it at 10–12 °C with grilled sea bass with lemon, with scallops with saffron sauce, or with a mild Pecorino from the Maremma.
