Pichler Grüner Veltliner Federspiel

A classic Wachau Veltliner in the Federspiel style: lean, fresh, with the typical white pepper on the finish. Exactly what you would expect from Rudi Pichler.

Rudi Pichler is one of the most influential winemakers of the Wachau – one of Austria's steepest and most historically significant wine regions, characterized by primary rock soils of gneiss and slate directly on the Danube. The Federspiel classification of Vinea Wachau signifies lighter, more approachable wines with an alcohol content below 12.5% ABV, named after the falcon of the Wachau falconers.

In the glass, this Grüner Veltliner displays a clear greenish-yellow hue. The nose offers aromas of citrus peel, green apple, and a hint of white pepper – the characteristic peppery note that distinguishes this Veltliner from all others. On the palate, it is light and mineral, with crisp acidity and a spicy, well-defined finish.

Serving suggestion: Well chilled at 10–12 °C. Pairs well with Wiener Schnitzel, asparagus dishes, grilled pike-perch or as an uncomplicated accompaniment to a cold platter and Liptauer cheese spread.

Interessantes Zusammenspiel aus Frucht und Mineralität

Interessantes Zusammenspiel aus Frucht und Mineralität. Feine Säure und anhaltend im Mund. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Weingut Rudi Pichler

Rudi Pichler Winery – this is Wachau in its purest form. The Pichler family has been cultivating wine in Wösendorf since 1731, and you can taste these centuries in every glass: as tranquility, as depth, as an unmistakable signature.

On 15 hectares, mainly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling grapes grow – in vineyards whose soils originate from ancient loess and Danube river sediments. This interplay of geology, microclimate, and the skill of a winemaker who works not by recipe but by feel, makes Rudi Pichler's wines so special. Pure, precise, vibrant.
