Montevetrano Rosso Colli di Salerno IGT

The Montevetrano Rosso from the Colli di Salerno is a red wine from Campania that shows what the south of Italy can achieve with international grape varieties – structured, profound, and far removed from the cliché of heavy southern Italian wine.

Montevetrano is located in the province of Salerno, not far from the Amalfi Coast. The winery was built up by Silvia Imparato and is considered one of the pioneers for quality-oriented winemaking in Campania. The focus is on Cabernet Sauvignon, which thrives on the hilly sites of the IGT Colli di Salerno.

On the nose, the wine opens with cassis, black cherry, and ripe plum, underscored by cedar wood and fine tobacco notes. On the palate follows a multi-layered structure: dark fruit, graphite, and subtle roasted aromas form the framework, carried by ripe, integrated tannins. The finale is long, with cocoa, spice notes, and a mineral pull that brings freshness to the finish.

Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs with braised lamb, game ragù, or ripe Pecorino. Those who decant the wine give it time to unfold its full aromatic breadth.
