Mas La Plana Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum

Mas La Plana Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum
The Mas La Plana from Torres is considered one of Spain's reference Cabernet Sauvignons — dense, complex, and with the backbone for long aging. In the magnum bottle, it develops even more slowly and evenly.
The Torres winery has been managing the Mas La Plana single vineyard in Penedès since the 1960s. The plot lies on barren clay-sand soil, which stresses the vines and promotes concentration. This wine became famous in 1979 when it outperformed the Bordeaux competition in a blind tasting in Paris. Aged in French barrique barrels for 18 months.
In the glass, deep dark ruby red with a violet core. On the nose, truffle, preserved black cherry, and blackberry jam, plus toast, coffee, and vanilla from the wood aging. On the palate, meaty and full-bodied: the tannin is dense but silkily integrated, accompanied by dark chocolate, liquorice, and a hint of gingerbread spice. Long finish with toasted bread and dark chocolate.
Serving recommendation: 17–18 °C. Decanting recommended (at least 1 hour). Pairs with braised lamb shank, beef fillet with truffle sauce, or mature Manchego.
