Mas La Plana Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum

Mas La Plana Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum
Torres' Mas La Plana is considered one of Spain's benchmark Cabernet Sauvignons—dense, complex, and with the backbone for long aging. In the magnum bottle, it develops even more slowly and consistently.
The Torres winery has cultivated the single vineyard Mas La Plana in Penedès since the 1960s. The plot lies on barren clay-sand soil, which stresses the vines and promotes concentration. This wine became famous in 1979 when it beat its Bordeaux competitors in a blind tasting in Paris. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
In the glass, a deep, dark ruby red with a violet core. The nose offers truffle, preserved black cherry, and blackberry jam, along with toast, coffee, and vanilla from the oak aging. On the palate, it is fleshy and full-bodied: the tannins are dense yet silky, accompanied by dark chocolate, licorice, and a hint of gingerbread spice. A long finish with toasted bread and dark chocolate.
Serving suggestion: 17–18 °C. Drinking window 2025–2035+. Decanting recommended (at least 1 hour). Pairs well with braised leg of lamb, beef fillet with truffle sauce, or mature Manchego cheese.
