Lauer Riesling Barrel 13 GG tr Saarfeils

Barrel 13 from the Saarfeils vineyard is a Grand Cru that showcases the cool precision of the Saar in its purest form — tightly structured, mineral and with a depth that takes years to fully develop.

Peter Lauer in Ayl is one of the most influential wineries on the Saar. The barrel numbering is not a marketing ploy, but a living tradition: each wooden barrel matures separately, is evaluated separately—and only the very best end up as a standalone wine in the cellar. Barrel 13 comes from the Saarfeils, a steep-slope parcel on weathered slate, known for its cool fruit and pronounced minerality.

In the glass, aromas of citrus peel, white peach, and fresh herbs are revealed, underpinned by a smoky slate spice. On the palate, the wine is taut and precise: a dense acidity that never becomes harsh, a saline tension in the mid-palate, and a long, dry finish with a delicate bitterness.

Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Drinking window 2026–2035 — approachable now, but with significant aging potential. Pairs well with grilled sea bass with caper butter, scallops, or mature Comté cheese.
